Brain Fitness: How to Workout and Exercise the Brain

Are you as smart as you think you are?

The simple answer is NO if you are not exercising regularly!

Exercise make you smarter! Forget about the stupid jock cliche, and check out the latest cutting edge science. It has been proven conclusively that exercise builds neurons in your brain! What parts or your brain, you might ask? Well, the parts that deal with memory, learning, attention, and survival!

Here is a quick tip: Do 30 minutes of cardio at an intensity of 6/10  before your most important work meeting, presentation, or task. The neurons you build during that cardio session will be plugged into the existing network in your brain, and you will excel at learning, remembering, and thinking more creatively about whatever it is your work on after the exercise.

I studied the effects of exercise and a healthy diet in college and did a god amount of research involving rats and humans and the differences between sedentary and active individuals is amazing. You can extend not only the quality of your life but your life expectancy as well. I’m inspired everyday by the people I see in the park running, walking, biking. Anyone can do it.

Awesome! I agree 100%! Thanks for the comment Lisa :)

[...] To put it clearly, aerobic exercise, single handedly targets ALL of the neurotransmitters targeted by the entire class of anti-depressants. It better conducts the symphony of chemicals that keeps us happy, instead of adding more clarinets and throwing off the entire sound (as anti-depressants do.) This is incredibly important to understand, as many doctors and psychiatrists over prescribe anti-depressants, which as indicated by the research, do not work as effectively as aerobic exercise.  (If you want to learn more about this research, check out this book- Spark: The Revolutionary New Science of Exercise and the Brain.)
